Upcoming ISG Provider Lens® reports will evaluate providers that help companies modernize aerospace and defense development, production and maintenance
STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm, has launched a research study examining providers that help aerospace and defense (A&D) organizations optimize their operations with emerging digital technologies.
The study results will be published in a series of comprehensive ISG Provider Lens® reports, called Aerospace and Defense Services and Solutions, scheduled to be released in May 2026. The reports will cover companies offering A&D engineering and design services; maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services and supply chain operations management, as well as technology transformation and specialized services for midsize A&D enterprises.
Enterprise buyers will be able to use information from the reports to evaluate their current vendor relationships, potential new engagements and available offerings, while ISG advisors use the information to recommend providers to the firm’s buy-side clients.
The aerospace and defense industry is undergoing rapid technological and operational shifts driven by rising production pressures, backlogs and geopolitical tensions. Organizations are undergoing digital transformation to support modernization of defense and recovery in the commercial aerospace industry. Lightweight, durable materials, additive manufacturing and digital tools are enhancing aircraft development, performance and production efficiency. Companies are strengthening supply chains by enhancing supplier performance and digital visibility.
“Aerospace and defense enterprises are working to shorten design and testing processes and increase production,” said Iain Fisher, director at ISG. “Service providers support these efforts by improving supply chain readiness and enabling organizations to meet defense modernization requirements and commercial aircraft production schedules.”
ISG has distributed surveys to more than 120 providers of A&D services. Working in collaboration with ISG’s global advisors, the research team will produce five quadrants representing the typical aerospace and defense services and solutions enterprises are buying, based on ISG’s experience working with its clients. The five quadrants are:
- Engineering, Design and Innovation, evaluating providers that support digital integration and apply modern manufacturing practices. These providers utilize model-based definitions and digital twins so organizations can achieve faster, more accurate aircraft development.
- Maintenance, Repairs and Overhauls (MRO) and Aftermarket, assessing providers that enhance maintenance planning and reduce downtime for aging fleets. These providers use AI insights, predictive analytics and digital workflows to improve operational efficiency, asset reliability and overall lifecycle performance.
- Supply Chain Operations and Logistics Management, covering providers that improve supply chain resilience amid geopolitical risks. The providers are assessed on their ability to deploy industrial IoT, digital twin, AI and ML to strengthen logistics management practices.
- Technology Transformation and Consulting, evaluating providers that help A&D enterprises adopt AI, automation and digital integration to improve key operations. The providers are assessed on their ability to deliver secure data exchange, disaster recovery and connected aircraft solutions.
- Aerospace and Defense Services, assessing global midsize IT and specialist providers delivering services across all four quadrants. These providers are assessed on their ability to deliver capabilities tailored to midsize enterprises to support their market growth.
Geographically focused reports from the study will cover the global aerospace and defense service and solution market and examine products and services available in the U.S., Europe and around the world. ISG analysts Swadhin Pradhan (U.S. and global) and Harish B (Europe and global) will serve as authors of the reports.
A list of identified providers and vendors and further details on the study are available in this digital brochure. Companies not listed as aerospace and defense service and solution providers can contact ISG and ask to be included in the study.
All 2025 ISG Provider Lens® evaluations feature expanded customer experience (CX) data that measures actual enterprise experience with specific provider services and solutions, based on ISG’s continuous CX research.
